Ricoh End-of-life notice for Generation 2 Smart Operation Panels (Gen2)

THE PAGE APPLIES TO:

Last updated May 11, 2026

This article is to help you identify if your device is a Gen2 Ricoh, and no longer supported by the embedded applications in PaperCut MF and PaperCut Hive.

What does End-of-life mean?

To learn about the PaperCut End-of-life meaning please visit the End-of-life knowledge base article.

It can be summarized as:

“End-of-life does not mean that the application will no longer function - you may continue to run the application. EOL simply indicates that PaperCut Software may choose not to devote resources to resolving support issues and instead suggest an alternative solution or upgrade pathway.”

PaperCut Hive

The PaperCut Hive embedded application may install and run on Gen2 devices with a degraded experience. PaperCut will no longer feature Gen2 specific improvements and the app may no longer function on these devices without notice.

PaperCut MF

In 2026 PaperCut will be releasing a new and improved ‘V2’ Ricoh MF application. Installation will not be possible on Gen2 devices. Please continue to use the ‘V1’ application for Gen2 devices. Please note that the ‘V1’ app will be End-of-life at the release of the ‘V2’ app.

Why are PaperCut ending support for Gen2 devices?

Generation 2 devices were introduced in 2017 and have been superseded by Gen2.5 and Gen3. To make sure PaperCut provides the best experience for these newer generations of devices, we must prioritize support for the modern panels found on newer Ricoh devices.

How do I know if my device is affected (a Gen2 device)?

The following is a list of known Gen2 devices to PaperCut. However if you are unsure, please reach out to your Ricoh Authorized Partner.
