Some scan actions—like Make Searchable (OCR), Blank Page Removal, and Batch Splitting—use PaperCut MF’s Document Processing service. Scan actions won’t appear on a device unless it’s been specifically enabled for Document Processing.
This article explains how to assign Document Processing entitlements to devices so that users can access these scan actions at the MFD.
To enable Document Processing scan actions on a device:
-
Navigate to Devices > External Device List.
-
Select the device.
-
In the Integrated Scanning section, click Enable Scan Actions with Document Processing on this device.
Note that when the Hosting Configuration is set to Use PaperCut MF Cloud Services for Document Processing, then the remaining entitlements will be displayed.
-
Click Apply.
To enable Document Processing scan actions on multiple devices:
- Navigate to Devices > External Device List.
- In the Actions menu to the right, click Copy settings from device to device.
- In the dropdown Copy settings from select a device which has already been configured to Enable Scan Actions with Document Processing on this device.
- Configure the Target settings (which devices you want to apply changes to).
- Under Device Settings click the checkbox next to Integrated scanning settings.
- Click the Copy button.
Important info about scan action visibility
Here’s something important to note:
If Document Processing options are enabled, the scan action won’t be visible to the user unless a Document Processing entitlement is assigned to the device.
These settings can be configured in two locations:
-
Per-scan Document Processing options
Settings needing document processing are grouped under the Document Processing section during scan action setup. If you select any of these settings, the status will show as “ON."
-
Global Document Processing options
More settings are listed in Options > Capture section of the PaperCut admin interface. If you enable Despeckle or Deskew on this page, the status for all scan actions will show as “ON (GLOBAL SETTINGS ENABLED)."
