Fixes:

• Security: Security improvements to address a potential remote code execution vulnerability within the PaperCut MF Application Server (CVE-2019-12135). This was identified by an external security review team. This fix also addresses several other related security issues that were identified by the PaperCut security team. • HP Universal print driver (PCL, PostScript) or HP model-specific driver: Documents printed with a color selection of "High Quality CMYK Grayscale" are now counted as color jobs instead of grayscale. This change aligns with HP's change in firmware version 4.6.4 and above where these jobs are now counted as color in device meter counts. This behaviour can be reversed by setting CompositeIsGrayscale in the print-provider.conf file to "True". PC-15702
• Canon OcéPlotWave series PostScript printer driver: Fixed an issue that caused custom paper sizes to be detected incorrectly. PC-15770

  • Integrated Scanning: Fixed an issue where the ext-device.ricoh.card-reader.allow-sleep config key's default setting (N) had no effect, incorrectly allowing the device to enter sleep mode after a completed scan job, ignoring subsequent card swipes. MAC-5759

• Customers using the CBORD DX payment gateway can now configure an option to record the CBORD transaction ID in the Admin web interface Users > Transaction History. This helps to cross reference transactions between the two systems. PC-15165

• Integrated Scanning: How failed scans are maintained on the server has changed. Prior to 19.0.1, failed scans were left on the disk by default. • HP DesignJet Z-Series PostScript printer driver: Fixed an issue that caused an incorrect page size to be detected after the user had selected a custom paper size from an Adobe application such as Acrobat. PC-15477
• Print Provider: Fixed an issue that caused the Print Provider to crash while analyzing a corrupt PCL6 spool file. PC-15418
• Sharp PCL6 printer driver: Fixed an issue that caused an incorrect page count if the printed document contained blank pages and was printed in duplex. PC-15260
• Toshiba Universal PostScript printer driver: Fixed an issue that caused a page to be incorrectly detected as color when the output color was set to "Black and White" for "Twin Color". PC-15398
• Fixed an issue with Active Directory syncing that prevented the 'Primary Number' field from being set to "Do Not Sync" unless the secondary number field was also set to "Do Not Sync" (since 19.0.1). PC-15712
• Updated the cups-api-helper binary for the Mac print provider to 64-bit. This addressed the 'cups.api.helper needs to be updated' message that was displaying for macOS 10.14.4 and above. PC-15617

  • Added a config key to allow users to bypass account selection when they have a default shared account

  • Fixed an issue that incorrectly allowed users to enter invalid characters (such as, * and #) on the PaperCut MF Login screen's ID number field. MAC-5829
  • Fixed an issue that prevented Zero Stop from working for faxes. MAC-5766
• HP (FutureSmart Legacy) version 1.3.1*:
  • Fixed an issue on all PaperCut MF screens that incorrectly displayed source code strings (such as, auth.new-pin-required.no-match.title) instead of the actual text (such as, user credentials, account details) of some labels (since 19.0.0). PC-15687
  • Fixed a rare issue when Swipe card authentication was not enabled and users attempted to swipe to log in. The issue prevented them from subsequently logging in using other available authentication methods. MAC-5545
  • Improved resiliency in unreliable network environments by increasing the default network timeout to 10 seconds and improving reconnect time. MAC-5482

  • Integrated Scanning OCR: Fixed an issue when a scan job contained multiple pages that incorrectly sent each scanned page as a separate scan file, instead of merging them into one file. PC-15699

    • Auto setup on Mac or Linux: Fixed an issue when running Auto setup from the command line that failed to create log files. PC-15613
    • Auto setup on Mac: Fixed an issue when the three Advanced options (to create app icons for Release, Scan, and Home) were unchecked that prevented Auto setup from working. PC-15579

  • In Percolator:
    • Auto setup on Mac or Linux: Fixed an issue when running Auto setup from the command line that failed to create log files. PC-15613

  • Integrated Scanning:
    • Fixed an issue when a scan job was in progress and the device was deleted from and then immediately added back to the PaperCut MF Application Server that caused the device to display an incorrect credit limit error and prevented the user from proceeding with the job. MAC-5796
    • On the PaperCut MF Scan More or Finish screen, the 'Cancel' button is now disabled whenever a user taps any of the other buttons: 'Scan next page', 'Scan new document' or 'Finish'. MAC-5795
    • Fixed an issue on the PaperCut MF Scan Complete screen that incorrectly displayed '0 pages scanned' if on the Scan Details / Scan Settings screen the 'Prompt for more pages' option was unchecked. MAC-5794
  • Fixed an issue that kept the 'Reset to original' button enabled after a print job's settings had been reset to the original settings. MAC-5768
  • Fixed an issue that incorrectly calculated the page limit for restricted users to be one page less than their available credit balance, that prevented them from copying or scanning the extra page. MAC-5760

  • Integrated Scanning: Fixed an issue when a scan job was in progress and the user swiped to log out that locked the device and prevented users from being able to subsequently log in. PC-15513
  • 10" devices: Fixed an issue on the PaperCut MF Home screen that incorrectly enlarged the font size of button text. PC-15210

  • EIP 1.0, EIP 1.5: Fixed an issue that failed to log out a user with an insufficient balance, if the user was configured with the Account Selection option: 'When shared account is selected > Charge personal account (and allocate to shared account for reporting)'. PC-15630
  • EIP 1.0+: Continuing security improvements by changing XML parsing to reduce vulnerability to XXE attacks. MAC-5469

Fix:

• Fixed an issue introduced in 19.0.0 that prevented the release of print jobs that were in the hold/release queue at the time of upgrading.
  If you have a version earlier than 19.0.0, you can upgrade at any time and your print jobs will be retained and releasable.
  If you have installed 19.0.0 or 19.0.1, we recommend upgrading outside of business hours to minimize the impact of lost jobs.

  • Added the On-premise OCR component to enable OCR to be performed using an on-site Windows system as an alternative to using PaperCut MF Cloud OCR. PC-15354
  • In the Admin web interface, on the new Capture tab, when On-premise OCR is selected we report the status of the installed OCR service. PC-15353
• Auto Setup: Sharp devices can now be automatically set up from the Application Server rather than requiring manual steps at the device. PC-15132

Enhancements:

  • Created a new page in the Admin user interface, called "Capture", where users now configure OCR and scan capture settings. PC-15070
  • Integrated Scanning OCR now supports on-premise scanning. This suits environments with appropriate infrastructure that have restrictions for using cloud services. ACA-677

  • A new "Capture" tab has been added to the Admin web interface under Options. This tab provides the ability to configure the languages that can be used during OCR processing. You can select up to 10 languages.
    Note: If you're a PaperCut Cloud OCR service Percolator customer, after you upgrade to release 19.0, you need to re-select your languages. PC-15189
  • Improved scan delivery performance. PC-15127
  • PaperCut Cloud Services:
    • Added two data centres for hosting PaperCut Cloud Services in different regions. You are prompted to choose which one to use when you activate PaperCut Cloud Services. If you are already using PaperCut Cloud Services you can change the hosting region. ACA-622
    • When you activate PaperCut Cloud Services you can now choose the geographic region in which the service will be hosted: USA, Europe (Germany), or Australia. PC-14962
• Application Server:
  • Improved Application Server performance by changing the maximum number of concurrent connections allowed from 8 K to 16 K per port (configurable in server.properties). PC-11001
  • Improved performance when under heavy load by adding a new connector for SQL Server 2016 to reduced database connection times. If you're using SQL Server 2016+ and upgrading to PaperCut MF 19.0, switch to the new connector. PC-14525
• SNMPv3 can now be used for:

  • retrieving toner level information (for supported printers)

  • The Print Provider now has its own new release versioning. For this release it's 100.5.0.540. It's also included as part of this release. PC-15483

• In the Admin web interface, changed the MF/NG About page to show a link to the Support web form instead of the Support email. If an ASC or reseller overrides the support email, then their email stays displayed. PC-15267
• Fixed an issue that caused a server error and logged the user out when they released a print job on a device that was currently in error and was configured to "Block the release of jobs when this device is in error". PC-15356

• GDPR print management, data privacy, and security compliance: To assist with with Europe's General Data Protection Regulation "Right to be Forgotten":
  • The Privacy Option ("Remove document information from the Job Log after") to redact potentially sensitive data elements from the Job Logs page, has been enhanced to redact additional attributes of the print jobs (file size, user client details, comments, watermarks, and digital signature). Additionally, the timestamp can also be redacted.
