How to exclude/whitelist PaperCut Hive in your antivirus protection of choice
Last updated May 1, 2026
Contents
“My antivirus or endpoint software is flagging PaperCut Hive as a potential threat. How do I stop that?”
Not what you want first thing Monday morning, and while we do test our files for false positives, these things can still happen as antivirus (AV) attempts to keep up with the changing world out there.
You can however, still add exceptions to the detection rules of your chosen protector.
Below you’ll find:
- common places in supported operating systems for PaperCut Hive files to live
- alternative ways of allowing the application files
- brand-specific instructions.

Certificate signer white listing
Should you have the ability to whitelist an app by it’s signer/publisher name:
Use: *PaperCut Software Pty Ltd
*This should be used on all up-to-date Hive binaries.
The above should help in setting up exclusions on the protection you use in a general way.
Not sure how to achieve any of the exclusions in the above sections?
If you’re not sure how to do some or all of the tasks in this article, we encourage you to reach out to your protection provider support for help. We’re more than happy to get looped into the conversation, which you can do by opening a ticket on the Support Portal page.

Still having issues?
It might not be because of antivirus
Sometimes, it may seem like the issue is one caused by protection software. If the issue persist after excluding/whitelisting the above, it can’t hurt to run the PaperCut Hive compatibility tool to see if there are any blocked ports etc.
