Could not communicate with your Edge Mesh
“Help! I’m an administrator and saw an error message on my ‘Edge Mesh’ page in PaperCut Pocket. How do I fix this?”
I’m seeing this message! What does it mean?
Oops! There seems to be a communication problem. We haven’t heard from any of your nodes for a few minutes.
Our system knows when all your Edge Nodes are down and when this happens your users may not be able to print as the Edge Mesh is down.
Let’s run through a few scenarios and see what stage you are at in your system.
I just started setting this up!
If you just started setting up PaperCut Pocket and see this message, there are a few things that may be causing this issue.
Firewall restrictions If you currently have firewall restrictions in place, you will need to open the following ports:
9263HTTP protocol for accepting print jobs from Chromebook clients.
9264HTTPS protocol for job replication between the Edge Nodes and for accepting print jobs from Windows, macOS, Android and iOS clients.
9266offline mode for the mobile app to communicate with edge nodes.
443MQTT protocol to send notifications to the edge nodes.
161TCP/UDP protocol used for SNMP requests.
162TCP/UDP protocol used for SNMP requests.
Sometimes your Antivirus may block us, we recommend allowing our services to run in order to get your Edge Mesh working.
I’ve already set this up and I haven’t done anything!
Ensure that the network has not gone through any major changes that may block PaperCut. If so, double-check on any changes you have done recently to the network that may block our system.
