!! First, what does a Fiery do?

Using a [[http://w3.efi.com/Fiery | Fiery]] in a digital print press environment provides enhanced image and color quality along with productivity benefits.  Managing production print with PaperCut allows Fiery customers to allocate cost with Fiery tracking and reporting. Administrators can now limit unnecessary printing and encourage positive user behaviour  to enable Fiery cost recovery.

Unlike most printers, devices fitted with Fiery servers or controllers have the ability to hold and reprint jobs and manage the print job settings after PaperCut has analyzed the job on the print server.

!! How do we track jobs that are re-printed on Fierys?
Changed lines 14-23 from:
PaperCut has developed this feature that checks Fiery print logs and updates PaperCut with the jobs that are reprinted. It uses APIs from both PaperCut and those similar to Command Workstation to communicate with Fiery and track those jobs.

Currently with support for Windows the program enables connection to a PaperCut server and multiple [[http://w3.efi.com/Fiery | Fiery]] devices over the network. It checks all the Fiery job logs regularly and updates the PaperCut server with any new jobs it finds.

We recommend running this executable on your PaperCut server for simplicity, although it could be run from any workstation that has network access to both the PaperCut server and any Fierys.  We also recommend having a Scheduled Task on your server to start this executable in the background as a service.

Unlike most standalone printers, printers with Fiery controllers have the ability to hold and
reprint jobs and to change print job settings after jobs are submitted.

This poses problems for PaperCut
print job accounting.

PaperCut records print jobs at job submission time so it records print jobs that are sent to Fierys but not the reprints after the jobs are submitted
.

PaperCut therefore provides a program that checks the Fiery print log and updates PaperCut with print jobs
that are reprinted.

It
uses similar APIs to Command Workstation for communicating to Fierys and it uses PaperCut accounting APIs for communication with PaperCut servers.

Added lines 1-21:

Unlike most standalone printers, printers with Fiery controllers have the ability to hold and
reprint jobs and to change print job settings after jobs are submitted.

This poses problems for PaperCut print job accounting.

PaperCut records print jobs at job submission time so it records print jobs that are sent to Fierys but not the reprints after the jobs are submitted.

PaperCut therefore provide a program fiery_papercut that checks the Fiery print log and updates PaperCut with print_jobs
that are reprinted.

fiery_papercut uses similar APIs to Command Workstation for communicating to Fierys and it uses PaperCut accounting APIs for communication with PaperCut servers.

fiery_papercut can be run on a Windows computer and connect to one PaperCut server and one or more Fierys over a network. It checks all the Fiery job logs regularly and updates the PaperCut server with any new jobs it finds.
