Using PaperCut's LPD Service to Archive All Print Jobs
KB Home | Using PaperCut's LPD Service to Archive All Print Jobs
The Print Archiving option available within PaperCut NG and PaperCut MF empowers approved administrators to browse and review the content of print activity within their environment. Alongside the powerful reporting features built into PaperCut, this gives administrators a whole host of additional benefits including the ability to view past print jobs directly from the PaperCut Admin Interface.
However, did you know that only the jobs that are actually printed out are archived?
That’s where our the PaperCutLPD service comes in. Usually used to enable tracking of print jobs from disparate systems such as AS 400, the PaperCut LPD service can also offer the ability to archive all print jobs as they arrive at the print server, making sure that administrators can get a view of everything printed by their users including jobs that are deleted at the device or are removed after reaching the system job expiry time. Also, with this being a PaperCut LPD service, there is no need to worry about Microsoft removing this feature from their operating systems, you can continue to use this protocol as a fully supported print solution.
This release contains an updated Java version which no longer supports 32-bit workstations. If you have any 32-bit users launching the User Client or Release Station from a network share, see this Knowledge Base article for more information.
