Device End-of-life (EOL) policy
1. Our policy vision and commitment
The PaperCut End-of-Life (EOL) Policy ensures that all components of our print management solutions, from the core application to supported embedded devices and apps, remain stable, secure, and innovative. We proactively manage the lifecycle of our products and support third-party hardware to align with industry standards and manufacturer support cycles.
2. Defining End-of-Life (EOL)
EOL is the final stage of a product or component lifecycle, after which it is officially retired. For PaperCut-supported devices, EOL is typically triggered when one or more of the following conditions is met:
- Manufacturer EOL: The device manufacturer or technology provider announces EOL for their firmware, Software Development Kit (SDK), or operating system, meaning PaperCut can no longer obtain essential updates or technical support.
- Security risk: A component presents an unmitigable security vulnerability that requires an unacceptable level of effort to isolate and patch.
- Sustained instability: The component creates persistent compatibility issues with new versions of our core software, significantly compromising the quality and stability for other customers.
- Active installations: The number of devices in the field reduces to a level that is no longer viable to maintain for a small number of customers
3. The EOL timeline and stages
The EOL process follows a multi-stage approach, providing minimum notice periods for planning and transition:

End-of-Support (EOS) & Ordering End | We stop bug fixes, or security patches for the EOL component. | 6 months from Announcement date | No further renewals or net-new sales are permitted. All support beyond this date forward will be “best efforts” and may require customers to stay on specific versions of software. |
End-of-Life (EOL) | This is the final version, where the EOL component will be included in our software. Functionality changes are made (for example, removal of the device type from the admin console). | Minimum 6 months from Announcement date | MF (On-premise): Customers upgrading beyond this "Last Enabled Version" will lose support for the EOL device, requiring immediate migration or a downgrade. Hive (Cloud): The cloud console will prevent the addition of EOL device types. Existing connected EOL devices will remain operational, without support or updates. |
4. Support beyond EOL dates
PaperCut does not offer paid extensions or customized support contracts for EOL components. We cannot guarantee the performance, stability, or security of any component that lacks essential manufacturer support or has been removed from our codebase.
