How to restart an Edge Node with PaperCut Pocket/Hive

If you’re an administrator who needs their shiny new printer to be discovered immediately, a way you can do this is by forcing your Edge Node to discover this printer is to restart the service!

Restarting an Edge Node from the Admin Console

  1. First, you must enable Diagnostic mode to have access to restart an edge node.
  2. Log in to the PaperCut Admin console site.
  3. Go to Edge Mesh.
  4. Find the Edge Node you want to restart.
  5. Click the ⋮ (more actions) menu next to it.
  6. Select Restart Edge Node.
  7. Confirm the restart.

Restart the Edge Node service on the computer

Use this when you have direct access to the machine running the Edge Node.

Windows

  1. Open Task Manager.

  2. Go to the Services tab.

  3. Find PaperCut Hive Edge Node.

  4. Right-click it and select Restart.

     

macOS

  1. Open Applications → Utilities → Terminal.
  2. Run the following commands:
sudo /Library/PaperCut\ Hive/pc-edgenode-service stop
sudo /Library/PaperCut\ Hive/pc-edgenode-service start

Notes

  • Admin privileges are required.

  • Printing through this Edge Node will pause briefly during the restart.
