How to uninstall the PaperCut Pocket / Hive Print Client (Edge Node and Printer)


Help! I’m trying to uninstall the PaperCut Pocket/Hive client from my personal computer. How can I do this?

The exact steps to uninstall the PaperCut client vary depending on whether your computer is a PC or a Mac. We always recommend reaching out to your IT department before you go any further.

However, if you’ve left your organization and you know what you’re doing, then read below for steps on how to remove the PaperCut Pocket/Hive client from Windows or macOS.

Uninstalling PaperCut Print Client from Windows

  1. First, hit the Start button in the bottom left corner of your screen, then type Add or Remove Programs and hit the enter key.
  2. Next, find and select the following in the list:
    • For PaperCut Hive, they are called: PaperCut Hive [date] & PaperCut Hive Print Client [date].
    • For PaperCut Pocket, they are called: PaperCut Pocket [date] & PaperCut Pocket Print Client [date].
  3. Click Uninstall and do this for both components.

Alternatively, you can browse to where PaperCut Pocket or Hive is installed and run unins000.exe. Right click the file and Run as administrator.

File locations:

  • For PaperCut Pocket: Program Files\PaperCut Pocket\unins000.exe
  • For PaperCut Hive: Program Files\PaperCut Hive\unins000.exe

Uninstalling PaperCut Print Client from macOS

  1. Open the Applications folder in Finder.
  2. The next step depends on which product you’re using. The file locations are:
    • PaperCut Pocket: PaperCut Pocket/
    • For PaperCut Hive: PaperCut Hive/
  3. Find (depending on how your macOS is configured, it might only be called Uninstall) and right-click and select open.
  4. A terminal window will open and ask “Would you like to uninstall PaperCut Hive? [yes or no]
  5. Type yes and hit Enter.
  6. At this stage, you may be prompted to input your macOS administrator password to run the program. Enter your password and click Enter.

Congratulations, you have successfully removed the PaperCut Print Client App.

If the above doesn’t work, it may be necessary to remove other components. If you’re not sure what you’re doing, you really should be talking to your IT department before going any further.

Note: If you have reset your computer, without uninstalling the PaperCut client first, when you log into the PaperCut Pocket / Hive admin console, it will still appear in the Edge Node list. It takes 1 month to be automatically deleted from the Edge Node tab. It can’t be removed from the list manually. Following the steps in this article to uninstall the client first will automatically remove it from the Edge Node tab.
