Q Are local desktop printers (peer printers) supported?

Yes. Local desktop printers such as USB printers directly connected to a workstation can be tracked by PaperCut. PaperCut NG is able to track local printers by installing a small monitoring component on the local system. Please see the instructions covered in the manual - https://www.papercut.com/products/ng/manual/ch-secondary-print.html

PaperCut Quota does not have support for local printers, however it can track them with a “remapping” method as explained in Appendix II in the PaperCut Quota User Guide. Please note PaperCut Quota is a legacy product and is not to be confused with the quota functionality of PaperCut.
