KB Home | Trialling PaperCut Using a Subset of all Users
There are a few options available for limiting the trial to a subset of users:
Probably the most convenient way would be to import all users into PaperCut as ‘unrestricted’ users. This means that when their balance reaches 0 (if you are allocating balances), they will be able to continue to print; their balance counting down into the negative. If there are no filters or other rules set up, this is a silent solution and they will not notice a difference. You can then configure PaperCut only for your test set of users.
Another option is to create a new set of print queues that the test users will print to. PaperCut will monitor all print queues on the system it is installed on by default, so you will have to configure it to ignore some. If you have a few printers, this could be achieved by entering your current print queues into the ignore list of printers. If you have many printers, you could set up PaperCut and your print queues on another server.
This release contains an updated Java version which no longer supports 32-bit workstations. If you have any 32-bit users launching the User Client or Release Station from a network share, see this Knowledge Base article for more information.
