Welcome to the all new HP PaperCut Hive Full Embedded Cloud app. This app joins the new generation of cloud-native Hive embedded printer apps already live for Ricoh, Sharp, Kyocera, Lexmark, and Fujifilm devices.
Built to combine the best of both HP embedded platforms, Workpath and OXPd, the new app runs day-to-day without depending on the PaperCut Hive edge mesh for inbound network connections or print delivery.
This is the solution for organizations asking for a cloud Hive app for HP. It is designed for IT teams who want Find-Me printing that works in zero-infrastructure, segmented, and remote-first environments, without a print server or on-site appliance.
Features at a glance
Some of the key features of the new app include:
- Pull delivery: HP devices pull the print job directly from the PaperCut Hive cloud node at release; no inbound printer connections are required.
- Edge node independence: After installation, the app does not need a local edge mesh client to log in, print, track jobs, or operate.
- Built with HP’s Workpath platform: Utilizing both Workpath and OXPd platforms in parallel to offer the best of both platforms.
- Includes all existing features: No feature has been left behind. Integrated Scanning, Copy Control (zero-stop), balance popups, it’s all there!
- No print server or appliance to manage: Fits zero-infrastructure, segmented, and hybrid or remote networks.
- Designed to match or exceed current push-print performance: Cloud pull delivery is benchmarked against the existing HP experience.
- One app, one story across brands: Delivers the same Hive cloud app experience partners know from other brands to HP.
- Easier to sell, set up, and support: Features fewer moving parts for partners and IT teams than the previous generation of embedded apps.
Early access and Percolator sign-up
PaperCut Hive cloud apps release through a staged early-access program: Private Percolator, Public Percolator, and General Availability.
Signing up provides access to Private Percolator when it opens, and a direct line to shape the release. For the HP app, Private Percolator is targeted for September 2026. Treat this date as an estimate; we will update this page and the sign-up list as the date finalizes.
Key benefits in more detail
Lets look at the benefits of the new app in further detail.
No infrastructure to manage
Cloud pull delivery means the HP device connects to PaperCut Hive over a standard outbound HTTPS (443) connection to collect a job at release time. There is no inbound connection to the printer, and no print server or appliance to install, patch, or maintain. This makes it suitable for segmented, locked-down, and remote-first networks.
Runs independent of the edge node day to day
After installation, the new HP app does not rely on a local edge mesh client for login, printing, job tracking, integrated scanning or general operation. Note: Initial installation and updates still rely on an edge node, consistent with other Hive cloud apps.
Easier to sell
Resellers can pitch this as a new cloud app for HP printers, providing a simple product answer instead of focusing on complex delivery protocols. Simplicity!
Easier to set up
The app features fewer moving parts for IT teams. There is no server or appliance to size and maintain, and the deployment model uses the familiar PaperCut Hive ‘One-Click’ installation experience.
Easier to support
No more troubleshooting which client failed to unlock the device. As communication is purely between App and Cloud, the path to troubleshoot is as simple as it can be. With pull delivery, you no longer need to investigate IPP/9100 & local queues.
Built on a modern, hybrid foundation
The new app is a ground-up build to combine the best features of HPs mature OXPd platform, with their Cloud first Workpath platform. This allows us to create an experience everyone is familiar with, such as copy control and the existing Integrated Scanning, and match it with Cloud pull delivery and edge node independence, with no compromises.
Why build an all new app for HP?
Here are just some of the reasons we are building an all new app for HP:
- The existing PaperCut Hive HP app’s foundation (OXPd) cannot currently support cloud pull delivery.
- Automates edge node independence setup at installation.
- Partners frequently request a cloud native app for HP.
