What’s your PaperCut 18.1 highlight?

We’ve had lively debates here at PaperCut about 18.1’s biggest highlight.

Is it supporting end-to-end encryption on the network? Or perhaps Scan to Cloud Storage ?

Maybe you think it’s our new HP Pro (Fast Release) solution or Fuji Xerox embedded application. Or are you still super psyched about Job Ticketing ?

We can’t quite decide, but either way there’s plenty of great reasons to upgrade to 18.1.

18.1 release highlights

  • Effortless Scan to Cloud Storage (NEW! Now with OneDrive for Business)
  • Supporting end-to-end encryption on the network
  • New HP Pro (Fast Release) solution
  • All new embedded application for Fuji Xerox

Scan to Cloud Storage

The latest addition to Integrated Scanning, Scan to Cloud Storage, is for workplaces seeking a scan to cloud solution that fits seamlessly into the PaperCut MF experience.

Wait, what’s scan to cloud? It’s sending scanned documents to services such as Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive, via your scanning device.

The feedback we’ve had so far has been pretty much universally positive. Beta testers worldwide told us it’s easy to set up and convenient to have new cloud connectors automatically added. The simplicity of the tap/login and scan workflow is a big hit, too.

Scan to Cloud Storage is compatible with all sorts of device brands, makes, and models. So if there are any changes to your print environment (which, lets face it, wouldn’t be unusual) you can trust that Scan to Cloud Storage (and PaperCut MF) will continue to work happily.

Scan to Cloud Storage is included in Premium Upgrade Assurance (PUA). To save you time, we’ll automatically check that you have an active PUA subscription when Scan to Cloud is enabled.

Supporting end-to-end encryption on the network

There’s been plenty of media stories about hackers stealing sensitive information from businesses, and internal document security breaches . So it’s easy to understand why securing the print environment is so critical for any organization. We get it - it’s a focus for us, too.

PaperCut MF and NG provide a number of security enhancements in 18.1 including support for end-to-end encryption over the network. In other words, encryption between the client and server, and the server to printer via IPPS.

This is a big step towards securing the print environment. But it’s not the only step. That’s why we’ve put together handy resources like the PaperCut Security Whitepaper , and the Comprehensive guide to end to end print security that discusses how to apply, validate, and maintain encryption of print jobs on your network.

The latest GDPR enhancements

Time is counting down until GDPR regulations take effect. In previous releases, we’ve made improvements to PaperCut MF to help organizations with GDPR compliance. In 18.1, we’re further redacting job log details.

HP Pro’s super fast, super simple, super secure solution

PaperCut has worked with HP to develop the HP Pro (Fast Release), a low cost Find-Me printing solution. You just need the software running on the device with a USB card reader attached. There’s no user interface, just tap the card to release the print job.

The HP Pro Fast Release device license is affordable, so it’s easily implemented into print/tracking environment.

All new embedded application for Fuji Xerox ApeosPort VI devices

Integrated Scanning extends PaperCut MF’s print and copy management features with new pre-configurable Scan Actions ensuring effortless integration into existing business processes.

The PaperCut MF embedded application on Fuji Xerox ApeosPort VI has a modern, intuitive interface, providing a seamless end-user experience at the MFD panel. So that’s nice.

It has a number of new functions including Integrated Scanning, the ability to select multiple print jobs when releasing, tracking of printing from USB drives, and loads more.

And don’t forget about Job Ticketing

Job Ticketing is our amazing new feature released in 18.0 . Here’s a quick re-cap on why Job Ticketing rocks.

In-house print rooms and fabrication labs (FabLabs) no longer need to feel left out of the PaperCut circle. With PaperCut MF’s Job Ticketing, they can now be connected to the rest of the organization.

Job Ticketing lets you track and control production printing, 3D printing, laser cutting, or any other service offered through these facilities. It doesn’t matter what type of device it is, they can all be managed.

We also created this video to step through how Job Ticketing connects to PaperCut MF.
