What’s new in PaperCut NG 23.0?

PaperCut NG

Ready for business at any scale

The world of work has never been more complex, more varied, and more under threat. Remote and hybrid work, information and systems security threats and increasingly savvy end users means delivering secure, reliable, simple print experiences is more challenging than ever.

PaperCut NG 23.0 is our most capable release yet, making sure customers and partners are ready to do business at any scale, anywhere, spread across the ever-growing array of platforms enabling modern business.

New Secure-by-Default features

Cybersecurity threats have continued to evolve, and so have we. PaperCut NG 23.0 brings further improvements from our broad security uplift programme, which involves ongoing internal and external architecture and code reviews, large-scale penetration testing and consultation with cybersecurity specialists.

Whilst most of these improvements are behind the scenes, silently reducing potential attack surfaces and migrating key security configurations from the web interfaces to safer alternatives, updating dependencies and so-forth, others you will see.

Administrators must now re-authenticate before changing an administrator’s password or creating new administrator accounts. Any passwords stored in the server.properties file, which can only be accessed locally by an administrator, are now automatically hashed.

Enabling Authentication Best-Practice

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) has become best-practice for line-of-business systems, offering layered protection against unauthorized access.

By requiring multiple verification methods, MFA significantly reduces the risk of breaches, even if a password is compromised.

PaperCut NG now supports MFA flows for all admin and user web interfaces when Azure AD is used as the identity provider.
