G Suite and Cloud Identity integration

The PaperCut MF and NG v18.3 release is sweet news for G Suite organizations. From November 2018, these organizations can sync and authenticate G Suite users with PaperCut MF and NG.

PaperCut’s G Suite integration simplifies the printing process for Chromebook and G Suite workplaces, allowing users to authenticate with their Google credentials.

When used in conjunction with PaperCut’s Mobility Print and Scan to Google Drive, Google organizations can now benefit from a seamless print, scan and copy solution.

It’s available for all G Suite for Education tiers, plus G Suite Enterprise, and Cloud Identity Premium users.

Stapling options for the PaperCut Global Print Driver

Turns out not everyone’s as excited about stapling as me, but that’s ok.

In an upcoming release (see big note below), the PaperCut global print driver will work for stapling. If your device can staple, PaperCut MF will staple for you! Users can easily select their stapling options, and sysadmins only need to manage one Find-Me queue. Bliss.

At this stage, this is for devices with stapling units from:

  • Ricoh
  • Konica Minolta
  • Xerox
  • Kyocera
  • Riso
  • Lexmark
  • Sharp
  • Toshiba

If your device isn’t here, don’t worry - check out the big note below.

BIG NOTE: this stapling feature will be available in an upcoming December release. Ok, ok, if you simply can not wait for that upcoming release, here’s the instructions to get you set-up with stapling ! Those instructions will also help you get your device stapling-enabled if it’s not one of the brands listed above.

Change print job settings on Kyocera devices

Kyocera joins the ranks of devices allowing users to change their print job settings at the device.

Users can now fix up errors they’ve made when requesting their print jobs. Asked for too many copies? Change it at the device. Charged to the wrong account? Easy. Change it at the device.

Plus, they’ll see the environmental impact their changes have made. Unlike other print management software, PaperCut instantly shows users the cost savings their choices have made (changing from one-sided to two-sided printing, for example), encouraging behavior change and thoughtful printing.

Sysadmins gain new superpowers, too. They control exactly what can be changed at the printer – so no gaming of quotas by mischievous students or staff. We’re expecting improved cost savings as well.

Sounds like a small change but it’s a huge time, cost, and environment (and frustration) saver.

OCR-enabled text searchable documents now in the PaperCut Percolator

For thousands of years (probably), scanning documents resulted in what we’ll politely refer to as “dumb PDFs” - essentially a snapshot of a document’s text. One of the fundamental necessities of document storage - being able to search for words with a CTRL- or CMD-F - was missing.

Now, if all you need is to quickly and simply create text searchable documents, there’s no need for 3rd party software. Because PaperCut 18.3 includes Optical Character Recognition (OCR). Now you can scan your documents to PDF and make them searchable. This is huge!

So, it’s another action-packed release to brighten the print management world. Hope you like it!
