Installing PaperCut on Windows Server 2008 Core
Does PaperCut run on Windows 2008 Core editions?
In short, yes, as of version 10.6 can be installed to Windows Server 2008 Core (e.g. to track printing). However, customers are advised that Windows 2008 Core requires advanced System Administration skills and experience to deploy and manage successfully.
How does the installation differ from a normal install?
When installing PaperCut to Windows Server 2008 Core you will need to use command line tools to start the PaperCut installation. The PaperCut installer does not have problems running in the limited environment that Windows Server 2008 Core provides.
Once this installer process has completed you will be prompted to open a web browser to complete the configuration of the PaperCut install. This will need to be performed from a remote machine as the Windows Server 2008 Core environment does not have a web browser.
