Account assignment at the MFD

To allow or prevent users from assigning accounts at the MFD:

  1. Click the Options tab.

    The General page is displayed.

  2. In the Actions menu, click Config editor (advanced).

    The Config EditorThe Config Editor stores information used by PaperCut to configure advanced options and functions. This information is stored in config keys, which are editable by an administrator. page is displayed.

Account assignment at the MFD with Site Servers

If you use a Site ServerSite Servers take over the role of a Primary Application Server in the event of network outages. Key roles taken over include authentication, copy and print tracking and Find-Me printing. Site Servers ensure continuous availability of printing resources to support key business functions over unreliable network links or during unplanned network disruptions., then during an Application ServerAn Application Server is the primary server program responsible for providing the PaperCut user interface, storing data, and providing services to users. PaperCut uses the Application Server to manage user and account information, manage printers, calculate print costs, provide a web browser interface to administrators and end users, and much more. outage, the account that print jobs are charged to is based on the Site Server Offline Policy for Account Selection. However, if the config key is set to Y, then users are allowed to change the account at the MFD during an Application Server outage. For more information, see Configure the ability to change print job settings at the MFD
