!!!!5769:  Ricoh `SmartSDK: PaperCut App does not stay in foreground on IM models (G2.5) even when the function priority is set to PaperCut.

To be able to fix this issue, we are waiting for Ricoh Japan to add some metadata to the firmware. Ricoh Japan is planning on having the firmware ready very soon,  at which point we will need to make the changes to our embedded application for the device function priority to work as expected.

As a workaround please do not use the auto reset timer, instead use the panel sleep timer (user will be logged out on panel sleep). This timer is set in minutes, with the minimum being 1 minute.

!!!MAC-2693: Upgrading from [=SmartSDK=] app version 1.0.8
`If [=SmartSDK=] app 1.0.8 is installed, due to an issue with the certification process itís not possible to push an updated version of the app to the device. Ricoh has confirmed that they donít have a workaround for this, and the only method to move to a newer version of the app is to uninstall the current version of the app, and then push out the newer upgraded version.

!!!PC-11098: Devices with proximity sensors fail to wake up fully from sleep
SmartSDK devices that are asleep do not fully wake when the user proximity sensor is triggered, and users cannot log in via card swipe.
Workaround is to set the devices only to go into power saving mode, and not fully sleep.

When unlocking device functions from PaperCut on the MFD, the userís email address provided by the PaperCut application server will be available to use in other applications such as scanning. If the email address is changed in the PaperCut server, this will be reflected on the MFD the next time the user unlocks device functions. However if a userís email address is removed in PaperCut, the next time the user unlocks device functions, the previously used email address for that user will still be available to other applications.

!!!2951: Slow performance of Ricoh MP C305

In September 2013 we started receiving reports from customers that the MP C305 interface becomes unresponsive after a period of time.  The PaperCut user interface does not appear to be affected, but the built-in screens (e.g. Home screen, scan and copy screens, etc.) become very slow to draw and become unresponsive to key presses.

We have escalated this issue and Ricoh is currently investigating.

!!!! Issue History:

* '''March 2015''' - Ricoh is able to reproduce the same slowness seen at PaperCut, and is investigating.
* '''October/November 2014''' - PaperCut is able to replicate some slowness in a lab situation, and is investigating the cause.
* '''September 2014''' - Ricoh releases an update to the SDK that addresses a memory leak when using USB card readers.  For MFDs with SDK 10, PaperCut recommends upgrading to SDK 10.18 or later.
* '''14th June 2014''' - Working with a customer, it was found that the card reader seems to be linked to the issue.
* '''October/November 2013''' - PaperCut and Ricoh work on trying to understand and replicate the problem without success.
* '''7th October 2013''' - PaperCut submits another set of customer log data to Ricoh for analysis.
* '''27th September 2013''' - PaperCut submits one set of customer log data to Ricoh for analysis.
* '''26th September 2013''' - After working with customers to understand the issue, PaperCut escalates this to Ricoh.  Ricoh asks for device config and device logs from affected devices.
* '''September 2013''' - Customers start reporting issues of slow UI on MP C305 devices.

The MP C305 interface becomes unresponsive after a period of time.  The PaperCut user interface does not appear to be affected, but the built-in screens (e.g. Home, Copy and Scanner) become very slow to draw and become unresponsive to key presses.

In September 2013 we started receiving reports from customers that the MP C305 interface becomes unresponsive after a period of time.  The PaperCut user interface does not appear to be affected, but the built-in screens (e.g. Home screen, scan and copy screens, etc) become very slow to draw and become unresponsive to key presses.

We have had difficulty reproducing this issue, so are asking for information from customers to help understand the issue (see below).  Without a clear way to reproduce the problem it's difficult find a resolution.

We've had one customer isolate the problem to an MFD with an Elatec USB card-reader connected.  When the reader is removed, the issue no longer occurs.  At this stage it is not clear whether the issue is triggered by only Elatec readers or also occurs with other reader types.

We have reports from one customer that the workaround to this issue is to disable the device sleep mode (described below).  This is not a long-term fix, but may resolve the issue whilst we work with Ricoh to find a longer-term fix.  (Please report the success of this work-around to support.)

To disable the sleep mode:
* Press User Tools/Counter
* Select System Settings
* Select Administrator Settings
* Find the "Sleep Mode" setting, and select "Disable"

We have escalated this issue with Ricoh on 25th of September 2013, but have so far not been able to reproduce it.  They have asked affected customers to collect configuration and log data.  They will use this to help determine the cause of the issue.  If you are affected by this issue we encourage you to contact our support for instructions on how to collect this data.

If you can provide insight in how to easily reproduce this problem we would like to hear from you.  Please include
# A short video showing the slow behavior
# Confirm the device model and firmware version
# Whether a USB card reader is connected, and what make/model of reader.

!!Ricoh Embedded for [=SDKv2=] devices - versions up to 9.8 ''(resolved in 10.0)''

The PaperCut application for Ricoh SDK 2.x devices use SNMP counters to track the number of pages copied.  The SNMP configuration can differ between different models and even firmware versions.  To allow for this variability, PaperCut dynamically detects the SNMP configuration for each device.

We have had recent reports that some monochrome [=SDKv2=] devices were not reporting A4 copies.  The affected devices included:
* MP 5500
* Pro 906EX
* other monochrome devices may be affected

This problem was caused by an unexpected SNMP configuration, which stopped PaperCut detecting A4 copies.  NOTE: This does not affect the newer [=SDKv4=] Ricoh devices.

When configuring the device in as a Release Station only, an error may occur when displaying the print jobs.

This issue was revolved in version 10.0.

In the event of a network outage (or if the PaperCut Application Server is disconnected), users at the Login screen may be presented with a blank white screen as the device recovers from a failed connection attempt.  Please don't panic.  Normal operation will resume a minute or so after the connection is re-established.

In the event of a network outage (or if the PaperCut Application Server is disconnected), users at the Login screen may be presented with a blank white screen as the device recovers from a failed connection attempt.  This will correct itself after approximately one minute.

We understand what's causing this and this will be resolved in a future update.

This is
not a criticial problem and will only occur when the connection to the server is dropped (which should not be common).
