Enabling finishing options (Stapling)

🔎 Find this feature in the user mobile app and MFD (coming later…)

This section covers how to enable stapling for your organization.

If you’re used to using the print driver on your computer, you are probably used to seeing options displayed when you press File > Print such as stapling, binding and folding. With PaperCut Pocket & Hive we do it differently! All the power to add finishing is all done from your MFD screen (coming later…) or your mobile phone.

Some prerequisites for your printers.

  • Supports IPP.
  • Can print using IPP
  • Mobile app
  • MFD Full Embedded App (coming later…)

Stapling is only available at the moment for the mobile app. To use your stapling options, you must have the mobile app installed and linked to yourself.

Testing IPP

Print a document to the PaperCut Printer, go to your PaperCut mobile app. Tap the document for more details, swipe to the bottom of the list and select a staple finishing option.

Testing Stapling

If you want to staple, first things first, do a test!

Print a document to the PaperCut Printer, go to your PaperCut mobile app. Tap the document for more details, swipe to the bottom of the list and select a staple finishing option.

Your document should now be printed with a staple on your location you selected. If the print document didn’t come out of the printer, it is likely it does not support IPP.

Now that it’s working, let your users know the feature is now available and they can now staple their documents.

Troubleshooting Finishing options

Make sure your printer supports IPP.

  • To check this, head over to your Printers page > Select the printer that you want to print from using IPP > Under Supported Print Methods if the tag IPP is shown, it supports the protocol.

Stapling is not shown

  • We try to test it out this feature out on as many printers as we can. If you are trying to add a staple option and it isn’t shown, let us know so we can see what’s happening.
