Today a lot of the world’s information is accessible using web APIs of various types.

A few times recently I have seen developers make assumptions about the information they would get back from a web API call.

This led to trouble when the server supplied data that was slightly different than expected.

I’m pretty handy at sorting out my mother-in-law’s internet problems. And my brother’s laptop viruses. But when it comes to APIs, my knowledge runs out after “try turning it off and on again”.

So I caught up with resident API and integrations geek Alec for a better understanding of the role that 3rd party integrations play in the PaperCut ecosystem.
