What a world we find ourselves in for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.
One good thing out of this lockdown is the good it’s doing the Earth. Less pollution, lower oil consumption, clearer skies.
But that doesn’t mean the fight is over.
I spent the day volunteering at a local clothing closet for low-income families in our local Portland Public School District.
I’ve done this volunteer work before, but it felt different this year.
Let me explain why …
The PaperCut Portland Green team had a big year reaching Silver Certification status!
One of our goals this year was to check out and attend an event hosted by the Corporate Sustainability Collaborative. I finally made that happen last week!
After successfully introducing composting into PaperCut’s Portland office, Julie Gefroh decided to take the company’s sustainability efforts to the next level.
Fortunately, sustainability at work is something the City of Portland is very, VERY passionate about.
If I think about what really drew me to PaperCut, it’d have to be our software’s awesome potential to reduce waste globally.
So discovering that our earth-loving values extend to sustainable practices was terrific – and a real motivator to do my part locally.
That’s why I started up composting, right here in Portland!
