Times are Reported Incorrectly in PaperCut NG

On Windows, PaperCut NG relies on the Windows Time Zone settings to determine the correct time zone. If this is set incorrectly then the print and application logs will report incorrect times (e.g. all out by a constant interval - like 8 hours).

First check that your system time-zone is set correctly. To do this:

  1. Open the Windows Control Panel
  2. Open the Date and Time
  3. Select the Time Zone tab
  4. Make sure that the selected time zone is set correctly.
  5. If the time-zone is set incorrectly and was changed, then the PaperCut NG application server must be restarted (Control Panel->Admin Tools->Services).

If the time zone selected correctly but PaperCut NG is still reporting the times incorrectly, the Windows Time Zone data might be corrupted. To fix this:

  1. Open the Windows Control Panel
  2. Open the Date and Time
  3. Select the Time Zone tab
  4. Change the time zone to a completely different time zone (e.g. Tokyo Japan)
  5. Press the Apply button.
  6. Reselect the correct time zone and press the Apply button again.
  7. Restart the PaperCut NG application server (Control Panel->Admin Tools->Services).

The times will now be reported correctly in the print and application logs.

If you are running PaperCut NG on an external database like PostgreSQL, then check that the time-zone in the database configuration is set correctly.
