Where can I get the secondary server (or local printer) software?

Q I need to setup a secondary server (or system hosting a local printer). Where can I find the “Print Provider” software component?

PaperCut is an enterprise level application designed to be managed and controlled from a central location. Multi-server environments are common in large organizations and PaperCut NG and MF handles them with ease. All servers (or systems hosting locally attached desktop printers) can be configured to report back to the central Application Server. This ensures that all management, logging and control is centralized at one location.

The Print Provider component is included in the standard installer for PaperCut. On the Windows platform, it’s an installer option listed in the installed wizard as “Secondary print server installation”:

On the Mac, the installation package is called “PaperCut NG Secondary Server Installation”. No separate download is required.

Q Where do I download the secondary server / print provider software?

If you’ve got your original installer software, you’re all set - you can run the installer and select the ‘PaperCut Secondary Server Installation’ as per the Secondary Server Installation instructions.

Q What if I no longer have the original installer?

If you’re using PaperCut MF or PaperCut NG and you’re using the latest version of PaperCut on your Application Server, you can go to the Admin console, and head over to the ‘About’ tab. Click on Actions → Check for updates which will then launch the update page. You’ll then see the Are you upgrading your secondary server? section where you can download the installer.

Alternatively if you’re looking for a specific version of NG to download, you can use the Previous Versions of NG page.

If you’re using PaperCut MF and no longer have the original installer and you are not using the latest version, you’ll need to reach out to your PaperCut partner or reseller to get that specific version.
