Logging out of the Web Tools interface

Why can't I log out of the WebTools interface?

Note: This article applies to PaperCut Quota only.

The PaperCut Web Tools is an "intranet application" and make use of Windows Integrated Security which allows you to be automatically authenticated and logged in. This allows users to login to the Web Tools without the need for another username and password. The current windows logon credentials will be used to login.

For this reason, it is not possible to logout of the Web Tools interface, because when you are logged onto Windows you will also be automatically logged into the Web Tools.

This is just like accessing a file share, MS Exchange server, or other secured network resource. Windows always gives you access to these resources whilst you are logged in.

In accordance with security best practice, it's recommended that you lock your computer whenever you leave it and enable password protection on screen savers. Windows has an inbuilt setting to automatically lock a workstation after a set time of inactivity. This way you minimize the possiblility of unauthorized use of PaperCut and other resources like email and file shares.
