Obtaining debug logs from Ricoh Embedded devices

To obtain debug logs from a Ricoh embedded device you require a Windows XP machine that can connect to the Ricoh device over the network. To obtain the logs:

1. Logon to the XP workstation.

2. Open a command prompt (cmd.exe) using Start->Run.

3. In the command prompt enter the following command (changing "ricoh-ip" to the IP address of your Ricoh device)

rsh ricoh-ip mmesg_auto 125 >> C:\ricoh-log.txt

If you receive no output, you may need to use the -l <username> option where <username> is the administrative username for the Ricoh device.

4. Reproduce the issue, problem, etc.

5. Take note of the following details:

  • Approx date/time you performed the test
  • Username of user logged in as
  • Description of problem, error messages, etc.
  • Description of steps to reproduce problems.

6. Send through the above information along with the ricoh-log.txt produced above.

NOTE: If you reboot the Ricoh device you must restart the logging command too (step 3 above).
