Looking for something a bit different?

We're probably the kind of company you want.

PaperCut is based in Melbourne, Australia and has offices in other countries. We're a tightly knit company that likes to get things done. With our environmentally responsible software being used and loved by 50,000 customers across 100+ countries, working at PaperCut really leaves a sense of fulfilment.

Here's what we're looking for...

technical support engineer

Melbourne, Australia

PaperCut is an Aussie software development house with international influence. Our software helps organisations manage and control printing and reduce their impact on the environment. Our customers are system administrators from across the world including some of the top universities. One big reason for our continued success is our support team, who work directly with those system administrators to offer no-nonsense technical advice.

Our support team understand our customers' requirements because most of them used to be system administrators themselves! They are passionate about technology and solve problems in a self-motivated and independent way. With our 50,000 customers worldwide, they are exposed to a wide range of situations across diverse and interesting environments involving clustering, databases, deployment and scripting on Windows, Mac, Linux and Novell.

Our office is in Mount Waverley, close to the train, the Monash Freeway, shops and parking. We are an engineering-driven software development company managed by the founding developers. The management structure is flat and the dress code is casual. We believe that close contact with customers is the best way to turn their needs and ideas into applications.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct support to our customers via phone and email.
  • Providing advice about how our software will best match our customers' requirements and environment.
  • Working closely with the development team (yes, they're in Melbourne!) to solve problems and help improve the software.
  • Helping customers help themselves by keeping our manual and knowledge base up to date.
  • Defending your OS/browser/coffee/beer of choice in the unending inter-office holy war.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience managing a production network and servers.
  • Experience in customer technical support.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to a range of network software and tools such as Active Directory, LDAP, scripting, printers and databases.
  • Relevant certifications or experience.

Bonus points if you speak additional languages, love coffee or if we like your t-shirt. Salary is $65k+ based on experience.

Sorry. This position is now filled. Please check back in a few months as we plan on expanding in support again soon.
